How long can I stay in Canada on a visitor visa?
Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months per entry. However, the final decision is made by the border officer. Extensions can be applied for from within Canada.
What’s the difference between a visitor visa and a Super Visa?
A visitor visa is for short stays. A Super Visa is for parents/grandparents and allows stays of up to 5 years at a time, valid for up to 10 years.
What types of work permits are available in Canada?
There are two main types: employer-specific work permits and open work permits. Eligibility depends on your job offer, employer, program stream, and personal circumstances
Do I need an LMIA to get a work permit?
In many cases, yes. An LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is needed to prove no Canadian worker is available for the job. However, some jobs and programs are LMIA-exempt (for example, Francophone Mobility Program).
Who can I sponsor to come to Canada?
You can sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parents, and grandparents. In some cases, you may be able to sponsor other relatives under specific conditions.
Do I need to meet income requirements to sponsor a family member?
Yes, especially for parents and grandparents. You must show that you meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) for the past three years.
What are the basic requirements for a Canadian study permit?
You need a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), proof of financial support, a valid passport, and ties to your home country to show you’ll return after your studies.
Can I work while studying in Canada?
Yes. With a valid study permit, you can usually work up to 24 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.
